Aging with Grace: Courage and Rigidity

I took Echo someplace new yesterday. At 29 (83 in human years), he loved the change of scenery and we explored and enjoyed ourselves so much!

One of the benefits of aging is that we become more clear, confident, and strong in our opinions, desires, and tolerances. Our experiences color our perspective. The key is to not make our world smaller or be more rigid and negative as a result.  If we are not positive and good to have around, our circle -our life- will get smaller.

Life is a gift—and we really don’t have a choice about much, do we? The weather and most people won’t change if we complain, so what is the point? Aging can be a blessing if we can allow it to bring us lightness and levity. Age can soften as well as strengthen, giving us more compassion, tolerance, and fun.  It can help us NOT SWEAT SMALL STUFF and be pleasant and dignified.  We can expand or contract with age—it is our choice. We can let go of what no longer serves us, get out of our comfort zone, and allow life and people to be as they are. We can choose to laugh more and share our gifts and wisdom with an open heart and mind.

We can choose to live with courage, grace, joy, and some healthy abandon.
